Professor Gordan Lauc
PhD (Biochemistry), Professor of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (University of Zagreb), Honorary Professor (King's College London), Honorary Professor (University of Edinburgh), Member of the Johns Hopkins Society of Scholars, Co-Director of the Human Glycome Project
Global Biological Aging Science Advisor
Professor Gordan Lauc is a globally distinguished molecular biologist and one of the founding pioneers of human glycomics, with more than two decades of scientific leadership spanning Croatia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. He serves as Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Zagreb and Director of the National Centre of Scientific Excellence in Personalised Healthcare, while holding honorary professorships at King's College London and the University of Edinburgh, and membership in the prestigious Johns Hopkins Society of Scholars.
Renowned for transforming glycan science from a niche discipline into a cornerstone of precision medicine, Professor Lauc is recognised as the pioneer behind GlycanAge, one of the world's first systemic measures of biological aging based on immune glycosylation, a breakthrough that has redefined how clinicians and researchers quantify the aging process at a molecular level. In 2017, he co-founded the Human Glycome Project alongside Harvard's Professor Richard Cummings, establishing the global framework for mapping the human glycome in parallel with the genome.
He is the Founder of Genos and Genos Glyco, the world's leading high-throughput glycomics laboratory, which has analysed glycan profiles for hundreds of thousands of individuals across international population studies. Professor Lauc has authored over 800 peer-reviewed publications with more than 19,800 citations and an H-index of 75, and he has presented his work at the most influential scientific forums worldwide. Beyond his research and academic roles, he is a passionate mentor and advocate for translational science, having trained a generation of glycobiologists and built international collaborations that bridge fundamental discovery with clinical application. As the visionary who connected immune-driven inflammation, glycan biology, and biological aging into a single measurable framework, Professor Lauc has fundamentally shaped the modern understanding of healthspan.
At Longevity Clinic, Professor Lauc serves as the Advisor of Glycan-Based Biological Aging, guiding the integration of advanced glycomic diagnostics and immune-aging strategies to help clients quantify biological age, reduce inflammatory burden, and extend healthy lifespan.
